Simply Scrapbooks is going to start highlighting Simply Scrapbooks Design Team Member's Projects each week! Each project shown will share some tips and unique ideas of how the project was put together plus more detailed photos of the project.
This week we are sharing Design Team Member Katie's Handbook Project.
Here are some tips from Katie Richey herself:
For my cover I decided I wanted it to be sort of neutral. I didn't want the cover to necessarily define the colors I would be using for the rest of my project. I ended up using a green, blue, and yellow mist to spray the chipboard cover. I sprayed light to dark to allow some fading. I hand cut the scallops and used my Silhouette to cut out my title.
For some unique elements on my pages I chose to use a lot of stamping. For this particular page I used a globe stamp on a neutral colored paper and then rubbed leftover blue/green mist on top to get that water color effect. I also stamped a lot of different elements on vellum. I like to do this because it creates my own unique embellishment.
Though my project isn't very color themed I still wanted to keep some key elements in play to tie the whole book together. Those two elements were vellum and silver accents. Here I used a die cut I had precut on my Silhouette and then sprayed with Mr. Huey Silver Mist.
Here's another example of using stamping as a unique element to my book. The polaroid frame in the left hand corner was stamped and then cut out.
In the Right hand corner I used lots of Studio Calico Wood Veneer Potty People (what Tina likes to refer to them as) and then layered another Word Wood Veneer on top. Stamped with an alpha under I spelled out "New Friends." For stamping on vellum I made sure to use Stazon Ink since it works on non porous surfaces.
I had these die cut polaroid frames. The fronts were colored and the back of them were white. To stretch my supplies I chose one frame with a color I felt was dull and unexciting and used the back as my blank canvas. Once again I sprayed it with a few different mists to make it a useable product for myself.
This is just a few pages of Katie's awesome mini album using the Studio Calico Handbook Album and Page Protectors available at Simply Scrapbooks! To view the album in more detail and to get your hands on some of the supplies stop by the store!
